2016 Brecon Forty-Two (Red Rhone Blend)
2014 Brecon Tannat
Perhaps you noticed Elon’s Tesla floating around in space has “Don’t Panic” Written on the steering wheel. Like our “42” this is inspired by the “Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.” Making it a wine with the answer to the ultimate question, life, the universe and everything! While I don’t think we will be launching a Brecon into space any time soon we do reach for the stars with this blend (Groan). Soft, velvety smooth, intriguing mix of flavors and a stunning length.

Production notes
Our Blending process is a little like the British game of conkers! (Basically horse chestnuts on shoelaces). To quote the BBC “It's a competitive rough old game where you will undoubtedly come out with bruised knuckles”. Many fine looking blends get knocked out in the process and, as with conkers, there is only one champion. Usually, but not always, the best prepared and best aged conker wins. This blending process is how we moved to a Central Coast Blend with the 2016 vintage. Perhaps we should have a conker tournament at our next pick up party.

Although we might be bonkers for conkers I have yet to find any horse chestnuts in these iconic Rhone variety vineyards. Like grapes horse chestnuts can be grown on a wide variety of sold types including calcareous ones. Quite handy really as we are at least 91% calcareous with these properties. This soil type leads to naturally integrated acids and a super food friendly wine. Glen Rose (MV.SY), Rolph (SY), Mainini (PS).
