2018 Brecon Mourvedre (Library, Club Only!)
Some folks see patterns in random or unrelated numbers and dates, It's a form of apophenia. If by chance you are such a person perhaps you could explain the following pattern of our Mourvedre vintages as we are somewhat flummoxed. 2013, 2014, 2016 and now 2018!. All have a signature naturally sweet forest fruit character, velvety smooth but with excellent length. 1st class examples, from these parts typically have a high proportion of hill top fruit overlain with a framework of complex smoky and earthy notes. Ours for the first time is a 100% Single Vineyard Hilltop offering. It just does not say so on the label. Dang.. I suppose schrodingers cat is truly out the bag now.

Production notes
Brecon uses a range of winemaking techniques, such as cold soaking, specifically designed to emphasise primary berry characters and mouthfeel. This perfectly balances the intense earthy/smoky bacon undertones that Paso Mourvedre is rightly known for.

This can be classed as a single vineyard offering from the award winning Glenrose Vineyard. What makes this Kiler Canyon vineyard truly unique are the steeply terraced chalky soils carved from a southwest facing hilltop. These dramatic limestone terraces stress the vines. The resulting wines have excellent minerality and great ageing potential. Interestingly low yields, minerality, and aging potential are very similar to certain benchmark Rhone vineyards.
