Surprisingly, tasting a great wine can be remarkably like walking a mischievous pedigree hound! Heresy, maybe, but hear me out. As you saunter your way down the bottle, complex berry, meaty and toasty oak nuances sometimes trot obediently by your taste buds side, at other times they jump right out at you and sometimes they just disappear into a denser thicket of brambly-like things. Comfortingly, you know they are never far away. Great wines should always have that similar connection, and give a different nuance with every step. At the end of the tasting path there might just be a glimmer of an earthy earth tones!

Production notes

Seemingly, a seven barrel single vineyard lot that equates to a mere one acre three ton pick. However it is never quite as simple as that. It's really the best barrel selection from a slightly larger lot. The other barrels kept being syphoned away to be the secret sauce in other blends such as the Haggis Basher and the Forty Two, leaving us with just seven of the best fine french coopered barrels by the time we hit the desired eighteen months maturation time.

This is supposedly a great dog walking vineyard. Expansive vistas, dry under foot (Calcareous bedrock), tucked into the native vegetation. Perhaps the reason it gets more attention from our winemaker than most. This attention then translates, he says, into remarkably little needing to be done to morph this fruit into world class vino. Excuse to get out the house? Or perhaps it's just our humble winemaker doing the British overly modest/polite thing again? We will let you be the judge.
