2022 Brecon Rosé
Let us indulge you in a pilgrim's tale of the “Wife of Brecon” (although perhaps not in a Chaucerian style). We must confess… our winemaker has been quite the keeper of ye secrets, from said partner. If you have lingered around these old vines a while, you may recall our winemaker secretly creating the initial Bordeaux Rosé without his wife's knowledge. This year he gave the tragic impression we would not release a Rosé this vintage. However with some wizardry or witchcraft, 185 cases poofed into existence in our cellar. Surprisingly richer than our steely past vintages, our winemaker went for complexity this year. Lightness of touch that comes directly from fifty plus year old Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, the Grenache so elegantly coats the finish with that refreshing and naturally sweet, white cherry note.

Production notes
Everything you would expect. Moonlight picking, pressing on a misty morning, frigid ferments to retain aromatics, horse whisperings, maypole dances, church bells and serenading by Mongolian throat singers. Each of our favorite warblers, I mean, varietals adding an extra dimension.

In a reverse of modern psychology, the backbone of our Rosé is a heritage clone Cabernet. Mostly because in our more classical Bordeaux style Rosé we are looking for a softness in the palate, delicate salmon hues, heaps of aromatics and mouth watering balancing acidity. You will also find Malbec with a super long hang time for brightness and flavor. This vintage, we changed up the order by adding a hint of Grenache (the forbidden fruit), and tainting the pure Bordeaux train we had started!
