2017 Brecon Syrah/Tannat (Library, Club Only!)
Strangely a “Furlong Firkin Fortnight” is pretty close to a case of wine! This humorous, nerdy system based on old fashioned impractical units illustrates the difficulty in finding suitable language to describe this little beauty. It is probably best to think of it as a Crossfit Syrah. There is a certain firmness of tone, a more solid well kept frame if you like. A definite inner confidence, head held high kind of wine that comes from a little maturity and a defined six pack.

Production notes
Measured by the harvest “Beard Second” (~5 nm in physics,) The winemaker's beard should be an impressive fourteen inches by now judging by the 2.25 years this offering spent maturing in barrel at its own somewhat glacial pace. It’s the longest any of our wines have spent in barrels and like any good chick flick, initial disdain somehow became a match made in heaven. Another three weeks and we could have bottled on valentines day. Could have, would have, should have.

There are only so many Tannat’s in Kiler Canyon. Five minutes internet sleuthing and you will have found it. Perhaps we should bury some grand prize in the appropriate rows just to surprise the gophers and keep the punters keen. Here are some clues; terraced vineyard, South facing, at least 20 years old, spur pruned on Calcareous soils a mere fraction of a nanoparsec from Brecon. May the games begin!
