2021 Brecon True Acacia Head (New Release)

Behold, a truly new world Albariño. The uniqueness of fermenting this wine in Acacia brings elegant white peach, nectarine, and citrusy nuances alongside the nicely-balanced structure. Rich, luscious, mouthwatering with aromatics reminiscent of the perfect spring day. Our winemaker suggests enjoying this wine while frolicking through apple blossom orchards. However, this wine is for all seasons–let it be your good company this summer and beyond.

2019 Brecon Reserve Cabernet Franc (Limit 6)

Try sitting down with a grandparent sometime and listen to tales of old. When men were bold (stereotype, sorry). They have their stories down, sliding effortlessly in and out of various plot twists and turns. You pick up a different nuance each time you hear it, much like the integration produced by these old vines. It might have taken fifty plus years to get there but would easily top a Shorty Award (Storytelling Championships). Sitting regally on its own Calcareous hilltop, they’re reaching that point in life when the smooth old rascals are considered to have a lovely lightness of touch, be subtly fragrant and rather flirtatious; softer than the more masculine Cabernet Sauvignon. Strangely, it still pairs remarkably well with a tender juicy steak in a restaurant's most romantic alcove.

2019 Brecon Zinfandel Willow Creek (New Release)

We have Googled our lives away. Read the classical biblical source texts. Studied the philosophical meaning behind the numbers. Become a modern day Gallup trying to ask people to help us. But still we don’t have a full grasp on why wines like this pair so well with food. Is it the organic, hilltop, Calcareous soil, dry grown, credentials? In part for sure, but it's not the whole story.

Lively and manifestly brighter, rather than jammy, with an intriguing spice layer, soft tannins and underlying mixed white/black pepper notes. While the interplay of fine American , and French oaks provide a subtle, refined, seamless framework.

2020 Brecon Grenache (New Release)

“Yes officer,” I’m Sotally Tober when penning these literary masterpieces! Ooops, Hic! Sorry. Apparently, we now know that's a family fun card game, cheers Google. Kind of actually goes well with the general image of Grenache. But time to Tober up. This is a little more serious than your typical cheeky strawberry and raspberry rendition of Grenache. This is more akin to a fabled old-vine Grenache, having heaps of texture and silkiness to be sipped and savored, even slightly chilled. Being so distinctive, we wrapped it in some rather attractive fine French oak. “Yes your Honour,” it does pair rather well with irreverent card games like “Crabs Adjust Humidity.” Ooops (Sp) Hic! Sorry again.

2021 Brecon Albarino

Benjamin Franklin once said “The discovery of a wine is of greater moment than the discovery of a constellation. The universe is too full of stars.” Well, finding this Albariño (and sometimes it's really really hard to find) can be one of those moments, judging by its previous accolades that is. A pure expression of the varietal that started Brecon on its wildly successful Albariño ride. Aromatics veritably jump from the glass with hints of Sauvignon Blanc and day lily blossom (that edible flower). Being varietally true it's all citreen, with crisp fresh limes dominating the palate. So refreshing, yet the finish is surprisingly rich with a softness and biscuity toastiness, reminiscent of a classic champagne.

2021 Brecon Last Sandwich (New Release)

To my wife's Australian vernacular this might be “totally awesome, mate.” While her inevitable British convict ancestors might have uttered the more dour “it's pretty good, all things considered”. Well, we like to think our winemaker did consider all the things! Even the opalescence that shimmers on the surface of a tear that wells up in a shepherd's eye as he marvels at the beauty of yet another Patagonian sunrise. We digress. But its opalescence does shimmer, and it is marvelously refreshing, surprisingly unique, and easily describable as clean, fresh, crisp with wafts of headiness. Not unlike the Altiplano air on the Andean Plateau.

2021 Brecon Rose (New Release)

Third time really is a charm, so they say. This is after all Brecon's third ever Rose. Made more for socializing than the first two covid babies. Those previous renditions shocked us by selling out in double quick time, even while folks were supposed to be isolating.  Ironically, our winemaker's wife completely missed the first release, returning from downunder the week after it sold out. The irony being it was her, decades long, unrelenting cajoling, that made him craft it in the first place. She is of course in OZ again. Drink up, a double irony would be most amusing.

Red berries and refreshing white cherry notes, it's a dry, dry Bordeaux inspired refreshing Rose. With a lightness of touch that comes directly from fifty plus year old Cabernet Sauvignon. grapes. Perhaps you can indeed teach an old vine a new trick.

2018 Brecon Meritage

Always amazes me how something so refined, balanced and sophisticated comes from our scruffy little winemaker. We suspect he will never be fully domesticated, can name the cave he recently crawled out of and has invested heavily in his dragged through a hedge backwards demeanor!  The wine however might be more at home on a red carpet. It is draped with some very, very fine oak. A bespoke Savile Row suit, if you like, designed specifically for this wine. Indeed the analogy goes much further as the blend complexity and hidden facets in this wine are akin to an exquisite cloth with a complex weave and the silkyness of super high thread counts.

2019 Brecon Malbec

Our Malbec is brand spankin' new, this being our second bottling. If you procured one last year and weren't a club member you likely bribed somebody, hacked our system, sold your grandmother, or some other such deviousness! Perhaps we can sneakily pour this one in the tasting room when nobody's looking. Say for a couple of quiet weeks, we just don’t have enough to do longer. Bags of bright fruit, a lovely acid balance and a certain softness of texture. Plus, the fine French oak regime imparts cinnamon/nutmeg overtones with hints of candied Vanilla lollies.

2019 Brecon Petit Verdot

Like the lumen sucking darkness I once immersed myself in a lava cave in Iceland. Darkness you can absolutely chew on! OK, perhaps the chewy bit might be related to the wonderfully ripe tannins from this single vineyard expression. Amazingly, sunny Paso Robles can take some of these lesser known varieties to new dizzying heights. Bright velvety fruit, bags of varietal character, fantastic structure, and excellent mid palate fruit weight. No need to go Icelandic volcano watching to warm your tootsies. This Petit Verdot pairs perfectly with any mildy chilly or blustery evening.

2019 Brecon Tannat

Have you heard of the old adage, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away?” Well, if you care for other fruit, I’d breconmend to “remember to nat have a day without tannat.” (A little birdie once told me tannat has very high-levels of antioxidants). Intriguingly individualistic with vibrant colors and beautiful bold structure, this vintage will feel like drinking from the fountain of youth.

2019 Brecon Feral Underclass

What's in a name, besides a great saga? Well, Brecon loves how this name rolls off the tongue and how it “oh so fits” for many occasions, even if the acronym is accidentally risque. Longtime Breconites might recall our debut vintage of this wine attracted 99 points. Our crumbley vino maker actually suspects this one is reminiscent of that original bottling. Lush dark fruit and layers of peppery spice. You might also notice there are two underappreciated varieties. This is quite the feral blend indeed. The perfect pairing at a lazy hammock hangout! The day will just fly by.

2019 Brecon Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Let me paint you a pretty picture (not). Recently, Mr. Damian, our fabled Welsh Winemaker was hiding in his mancave singing a natty Tom Jones number when he heard the news that the 2018 version of this particular Cab was listed by Forbes as one of the world's top 25 wines of 2021. A proud moment indeed. “Cobblers!” he muttered, “this 2019 is better!” So, here it is: the winemaker’s favorite from Brecon’s 58-year-old cab vine–the oldest planted in Paso. Clearly, good things come to those who wait. Nicely balanced and skillfully sophisticated (unlike Damian’s singing) with lingering notes of dark forest fruit, this wine will undoubtedly teach you about the finer things in life.

2017 Brecon Late Harvest Gewurztraminer

Think Exotic. Gewurz, as it is known to its friends, tends to shy away from the traditional French cuisine end of town. Head down the side street and be a lot more experimental from the pairing point of view. Think Ginger, Madras and Cloves. It's intense floral aromatics are a treasure and much like the aromatics on a peaty Islay Malt you can absolutely lose yourself in the nose. Only needing to occasionally come up for air and take a sip. For the record the obvious Lychee and Pineapple will be complex in time adding more nutty almond overtones.
