2023 Brecon Grenache (Decanter Top 25)
Perhaps Minecraft and Winecraft are not so dissimilar; it's not just a game for either of us! Bear with me as we build up some fantastic wines. Unlock special vineyards, unusual varieties, and magical clones. New barrels become legendary keys, and select yeasts might be gems with secret powers. But seriously, as time goes on, we have gotten better at this. Yes, this particular blend does contain some newly unlocked vineyards, varieties, and clones. The result is a powerful rendition of Grenache, akin to a fabled old-vine style, having heaps of texture and silkiness to be sipped and savored.

Production notes
Like every good gamer, we pull a few all-nighters working on this blend. We focus on our ferments to the exclusion of everything else, often forgetting to eat properly! But there is also a patience/abstinence thing, akin to putting the game down for fourteen months and forgetting about it as the wine gracefully matures in barrel. Unsurprisingly, such a characterful drop deserved our legendary framework of fine French oak, resulting in a thing of gravitas to be further revered and deeply contemplated.

Six vineyards and four varieties: these are the building blocks that make up a remarkably complex blend for a mere 261 cases. That's an average of under one and a half, seventy-gallon barrels per vineyard. We exclusively use seventy-gallon barrels to tame the influence of oak in this blend.
