2023 Brecon Rude Nora (New)
*** Enter the Description of this product
Six degrees of separation is how we connect any two people on the planet. But with three degrees of separation, i.e. an ex-friend of a true friend of a friend, everyone should know a Nora, and a rude one at that. But seriously, the name derives from the most essential bit of kit any self-respecting underground explorer must have: their light. Rude Nora lamps are the light of choice for European international cave explorers. Many remote discoveries have been made with Rude Noras, including some by our founding winemaker (who regularly uses one in our cellar, by the way). They are very, very bright, well made, super robust, monkey-proof, and built to last a long, long time. Not unlike this particular in-your-face Cabernet/Petite Sirah-based blend. Like many a Brecon blend, it also rolls off the tongue particularly well.
Double Gold. Pacific Rim Wine Competition, May 2026
Production notes
This is the last thing we bottled from the 2023 vintage and arguably the best. Sometimes you just have to let the wine mature, the grey matter gestate and the brain fog clear to come up with something that is a winner right out of the gate. Scoring a Double Gold on its very first outing.

To be fair we have done Cab/Petite Sirah Blends quite regularly over the years. Usually based on Brecons old vine sophistication and Rolph Vineyards beastly Petites. We of course only lacked a decent name and had had a severe wine namer block for a couple of years. By the time inspiration came we only had the Cab left so we had to twist our wine making buddies arms to release a little more Petite to us. Now having an “indecent” name means we are not tied to just the two varieties hence the smidgin of Syrah.
