2025 Brecon True Acacia Head (Albariño)
Our winemaker is a founding member and fellow of the “Unstable Pursuits Club” (don’t ask), the Cave Research Foundation (more lunacy), and most importantly here, the “putting Albariño in Acacia” club. Other posthumous, mentally unstable members might include a certain Vincent van Gogh who cut off his ear. Acacia adds structure, fills out the mid palate, and aromatically gives an overlay of elegant white peach or nectarine (but does nothing for your hearing). All this sits on top of Albariño’s naturally citrusy, zesty bite. In retrospect, judging by its innumerable awards over the last nine years, the then somewhat peculiar decision to mature in Acacia barrels was closer to visionary than the madness of King George III.
