2015 Brecon Reserve Petite Sirah
Just a morsel, a dash, a pinch, or a drop in the bucket or, as a dinky di Australian would say, we made absolutely “Bugger All” (just seven barrels!); it’s quintessentially the dog’s bollocks (in the “when it comes to Italian opera, Pavarotti is the dog's bollocks” sense of the word.). P.S. The B word is apparently not in the US dictionary so perhaps we can get away with it here. The sex pistols did!

Tasting notes
"Here is an unabashed showboat that races away from the grating tannins and sternness embodied in classic Petite Sirah, and it has one foot over the line to opulent excess and the other drawing close. It also possesses a wealth of varietal pepper and herbs with highlights of minerally earth, and, from its intense aromas to its extravagant, spiced-berry flavors, it simply oozes with very ripe, oak-enriched fruit and smacks mildly of jammy sweetness here and there. Subtle it is not, and it most definitely will not win favor with those who prefer their wines on the lean and lighter side but adventurous fans of big, unashamedly ripe, very rich reds are encouraged to give this one a try". Actually a single vineyard wine, but not labeled a such, from the Mainini vineyard (AKA Gee Gee’s Ridge). A stunning Calcareous ridgetop, head trained vineyard. It’s spiritually Paso Roblian although the vineyard itself is just over the Monterey County line. Two different clones are combined here, Rockpile and Palisades. Rockpile is more about structure where the Palisades provides both silky mouthfeel and jamminess.
