2024 Brecon Rosé (handful of cases left!)

Yes, these vines have been through a lot. Lived through several different decades, two different centuries, two different millennia. Finally finding their true calling. A refreshing white cherry/berry medley, it's a dry, dry Bordeaux-inspired, oh so seductive Rosé. With a sophisticated touch that comes directly from fifty-plus year old Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Perhaps you can indeed teach an old vine to mellow in time. Oh, and the marketing gurus even had time to dress it in a fancy schmancy new couture bottle. Relax, watch grass dry and paint grow. Enjoy!

2020 Magnum "10th of Brecon" Wooden Display Box Complimentary Shipping Deal.! (No other deals apply)

This wine honors a Major Milestone and perhaps is a nod to how time flies. It really has been ten crazy years since we purchased what is now Brecon Estate. Along the way we tried to take a path less traveled, picking up a somewhat colorful inner circle and rather unconventional influences. This special wine aims to reflect all this and improve on our ever popular “42” Rhone Blend, “the answer to life, the universe and everything.” A little more color, structure and silkiness, perhaps thanks to the addition of some tiny-berried Petite Sirah baby vines. Best saved for a special occasion or large family gathering.

2023 Brecon Feral Underclass (Best of Show)

The last fellowship of the “Feral Underclass” blending meeting was held on Tower Bridge, London. One foot on either side waiting for a double decker to go over! (Not distracting at all). Our demented grand Poobah of the Estate decided to put some of the exact same Zinfandel that won the 2025 Best Red at the Pacific Rim International Wine Competition into our beloved Feral. Perhaps this explains its lush, dark fruit smoothness, bright complexity with layers of peppery spice? Of course this deviates it away from being a single vineyard offering. However, it takes it to a whole new level. Appropriately Feral Underclass was a term coined in Londinium following the 1997 Riots.

2023 Brecon Haggis Basher (Best of Class)

Haggis Basher is essentially a co-fermented Syrah/Petit-Sirah/Viognier. It recreates "Còsagach" (pronounced co-sa-goch). For centuries, this was a cornerstone of Highland life. It was the feeling of being cosy inside a stone blackhouse while a winter blizzard howled through the Glen. It was the comfort of a peat fire, a deep and rich, velvety beverage. The company of kin, a meaty, aromatic haggis, all while the rain lashed against the windows. It's a feeling of deep, primal security, born from people who lived in a beautiful but often harsh environment. Try it next time you feel defiant in the face of nature's power. It's a core part of the Gaelic spirit.

2022 Brecon Meritage (New Release)

Tiny serendipitous moments made this a wonderful offering. Like pressing late as you had run out of tank space and using the Tango Malbec yeast as its all that was left on the shelf. We really did throw out the Winemaking book of not entirely useful advice. BTW Said book is penned by upstanding members of the Leguminati. Secret handshakes and all that. So understandably all our reds are Vegan friendly. And yes, every year our Meritage blend differs which makes our wine lively, integrated, and organoleptically interesting. Like a mad scientist, mixing components to balance acid, flavor, tannin and oak, our winemaker has done it again!

2024 Brecon Viognier

One forgets, amidst the passage of time, what a success story Viognier has become.  We're not talking about the cooling fogs that grace this sun-drenched hillside vineyard, but about a grape that was nearly extinct by 1965, with a global production of just 211 cases. This truly illustrates that, from time to time, when the galactic alignment is conducive, the fish are jumping, and the cotton is high, all is not lost.  Our current production of 220 cases is certainly not lost on us either. This, then, is quintessentially what a coastally influenced Viognier should smell and taste like: mere hints of tropical notes adding to the complexity. Balanced and varietally correct, it's perfect for summertime when the livin' is easy, and best paired with Britpop on vinyl. Or, perhaps, any good music on vinyl.

2023 Brecon Reserve Petite Sirah (Best of Class)

We craft these inky little monsters to outlast the median age profile of recipients of the fabled Darwin Awards (mid-20s)! By implication then, we are only catering to “higher functioning primates”, i.e., those with greater cognitive flexibility who will delight in the deep purple hues and silky multi-layered textures. Perhaps those who can discern the individual forest fruits and hints of fresh-cut violets. They might even cherish the complexities of a toasty oak profile formed somewhere in the “spaghetti junction” between multiple French micro-cooperages. It is, of course, not lost on us that both bonobos and mountain gorillas also fall into that higher simian bucket!

2023 Brecon Zinfandel/Tannat (New Release)

Welcome to the realm of the path less traveled. We, and our little Lord Farquaad, have only been this way in 14,16,17, and 21. Originally conceived as a “one-off” for the demanding wine club, it has proved remarkably popular and somewhat fiddly to replicate. Diving into the mind of our winemaker, beyond the cobwebs and British punk music, we have no idea what the trigger is to bring the coveted Zin/Tannat recipe from the darkest reaches of his grey matter. Elegant spice and opulent fruit from the Zin, richness and body from Tannat, fantastic length that lingers! And a brightness of character born in the hills.

2022 Brecon Cabernet Franc (Best Of Class)

Is it important to flirt with dirt? “That be the question”! These Brecon Estate vines certainly have a thing going on between their own roots and our calcareous hilltop subsoils. Our friendly neighbourhood bard (Aka Winemaker) would also like to point out that arguably the best Franc’s in Bordeaux play footsie with a similar Calcareous bedrock in St. Emilion. The result is lovely bright natural acids. This combined with our coastally influenced locale means a long hang time and flavours that get truly ripe. It's a lush red fruit complexity that is unmatched in the region. But “alas poor Yorik”, it’s truly a Shakespearean tragedy that these playful wines don't stick around.

2023 Brecon Reserve Mourvèdre (New release)

Of the three types of déjà vu, we got you covered on at least two; déjà vécu (already experienced) and déjà senti (already felt). Mourvèdre, by the way, has been the backbone of many collectible Rhône wines for centuries. That's why it always has that certain familiarity. In Paso, it also shines with dark enigmatic fruit, rich mouthfeel and beguiling color, as well as more customary warmth and earthy forest floor aromatics. Consequently at Brecon we put it front and center on the label, whereas in its native France it’s just not done! Interestingly, occasional déjà vu is very common and not a cause for concern. However, perhaps you should consider speaking with a neurologist if you experience déjà vu frequently (e.g., multiple times a day)!

2023 Brecon Grenache (Decanter Top 25)

Perhaps Minecraft and Winecraft are not so dissimilar; it's not just a game for either of us! Bear with me as we build up some fantastic wines. Unlock special vineyards, unusual varieties, and magical clones. New barrels become legendary keys, and select yeasts might be gems with secret powers. But seriously, as time goes on, we have gotten better at this. Yes, this particular blend does contain some newly unlocked vineyards, varieties, and clones. The result is a powerful rendition of Grenache, akin to a fabled old-vine style, having heaps of texture and silkiness to be sipped and savored.

2022 Brecon Cabernet Sauvignon/Petit Verdot, Single Vineyard

This wine has clearly decided that its time on earth is limited and rather than age gracefully, it should mature with mischief, rascality and audacity. Along the way it will tell its own alluring story. Therefore this might not be for those Southern Softie Sassenachs that occasionally frequent these parts, unless they want to squirrel it away for some time. Now don’t get me wrong, with the underlying smoothness of 50% “ye olde vine” Brecon Cabernet and the opulent dark forest fruit from our Petit Verdot, we suspect this will meld into something remarkably long lived.

2024 Brecon Last Sandwich

Wallace and Gromit’s “The Wrong Trousers,” alas, was not the humorous inspiration for the name. It’s actually some impressive discoveries made in a Welsh cave that our founding winemaker was involved in. Apparently, they were quite literally sitting down to munch on their last sandwich when they spied an unseen way forward. Ironically, this blend came about in much the same way. He had tried blending both this particular rich, oily, Viognier, and crisp, refreshing, Albarino every which way with other varietals, but finally hit upon blending them together while fighting over the last chicken tikka panini. Which, as you might expect, paired delightfully well.

2022 Brecon Reserve Cabernet Franc

The biggest smiles are on the faces of those who are patient enough to hide this away for ten years or so. We know that's hard, as it's so eminently approachable when just released, and the tannins are already silky soft. We might also add that despite pairing oh so well with big softies like Camembert, this is a genuine smile and in no way some cheesy grin! Now if you can wait ten years these vines will be in their sixties and already have an elegant yet old-fashioned style. These smooth old rascals have indeed perfected the dad joke, and grow regally on their own Calcareous hilltop, creating a lovely cherry-red, subtly fragrant, soft quality.

2022 Brecon Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon *Final Bottles*

Stereotypes can be more myth than fact. Contrary to popular belief, us Welsh are not all hill-dwelling Celtic barbarians who can hold a tune. Few are proficient at rugby and not everyone shares the surname Jones. Likewise, Cabernet does not have to be a brutish fullback in an oaken cigar box to be world-class. Rather older vines, such as these, can have an elegance, complexity, and a sophistication that far outweighs the best collegiate teams. We impart further complexity with a restrained use of fine French oak coopered in the iconic Cognac region.

2024 Brecon Albariño

Brits like our winemaker inevitably get burnt to a crisp in the summer. Roll out the string vests and knotted hankies, then spend five days getting excited about “silly mid off” and “square legs”. So it was no surprise that Brecon was initially considered barking mad for hanging their hats on an Albariño. The wine, of course, is nothing but serious. Particularly after a string of Best-In-Shows for previous vintages. Aromatically, it jumps from the glass with hints of elderflower and lily blossom. It is varietally true, being all citrine, with crisp fresh limes dominating. Ahhh, so refreshing. The finish is surprisingly structured with a softness/biscuity toastiness reminiscent of a good champagne.

2024 Brecon True Acacia Head (Best of Show)

Our winemaker is a lifetime member of the “Unstable Pursuits Club”! Other posthumous, mentally unstable members might include a certain Vincent who cut off his ear. In retrospect, judging by its innumerable awards over the last nine years, the then somewhat peculiar decision to mature in Acacia barrels was closer to visionary than the madness of King George. Acacia adds structure, fills out the mid-palate, and aromatically gives an overlay of elegant white peaches or nectarines. All this on top of Albariño’s naturally citrusy, zesty bite. Try it with chocolate-covered bacon; we did!
