2018 Brecon Zinfandel (Library, Club Only!)
To Muddy the Waters so to speak, we made two remarkably different Zinfandels from the 2018 Vintage (saw him live in St Louis, just brilliant). So, make sure you have picked up the right bottle. This is the foodies choice of the two. Brighter, rather than jammy, with an intriguing spice layer reminiscent of Grandma’s seemingly endless holiday feast (alas me Grandma never saw him live)! It does, however, have some rockstar/cult Zin credentials, organically grown, dry farmed hilltop vineyard, toasty oak framework, and underlying pepper.
Production notes
Winemakers love the flexibility of Zin styles. They can have a little fun, jazz it up, be a little more freewheeling with the super premium varietal components and be experimental with barrel selections. Cold soaks, co-ferments, wild yeasts, multiple delastages and sometimes even (gasp!), press off early...the list goes on. In 2018 the resultant two individual blends had such sizable ego’s there was just no practical way they would fit in the same band, erm I meant bottle.
