2015 Brecon Cabernet Franc
When you have Paso’s oldest Cabernet Franc vineyard, there is little point in running around trying to find an alternate with greater tannin or color intensity. You would be sorely missing the point. The old vines have way more complexity. Try closing your eyes as you imbibe! We, by default, have a duty of care to showcase the complexity emanating from these venerable old vines.
93pts. Enobytes. April 2018.
Production notes
Either our winemakers blends are getting more complex as he gracefully matures or Brecon Estate’s reputation is preceding him and more prestigious vineyard gates are opening for him to dip his toes in. Perhaps it’s a little of both. Here he is adding just fractions of barrels to make the perfect cuvee. True dedication!

The core of Brecon’s Cabernet Franc is from the highest point of our estate vineyard. Rocky hilltop soils make the vines struggle, yet produce super intense berry flavors. Planted in the 80's, the vines have passed their youthful exuberance, settling down into their best producing years. Back then nobody was planting Cabernet Franc on hilltops. A visionary planting indeed.
