2012 Brecon Cabernet Franc
The Cabernet Franc hails from one of the best vintages in many years. It is certainly not shy. It’s varietal character, fruit opulence and deep, red hues will please. A true classic and a keeper, the wine will mature gracefully for up to a decade. It’s a shame we bottled so little.
Best in Class. Gold. New World International Wine Competition. March 2014.
Tasting notes
Cabernet Franc from Paso Robles can be truly world class. Particularly when grown on our flavor enhancing westside Calcareous soils.
Production notes
Technically our first Estate offering, Althought not labeled as such.
The real touch of genius was just a splash of hilltop Zin (3%) to add a enhanced note of up front fruit.
This Cabernet Franc is from the highest point of he Brecon Estate 1400' and consequently on some of rockiest terrain that makes the vines struggle yet produces super intense berry flavors. Planted in the 80's they passed their youthful exuberance and have settled down into their best producing years.
