2015 Brecon Albarino
One of our signature wines. The previous vintage achieving semi-cult status in 2015 scoring 96pts twice in two days. These wonderfully crisp yet aromatic food wines have their homeland in the plateaus of Northern Spain where the best examples, like Brecon’s, come from within just a couple of miles of the coast. In California, marine fogs cool the grapes, resulting in a long ripening period, super intense flavors and aromatics. The tropical complexity / richness was so intense in 2015 we deftly melded in just 10% Albarino from the Jack Ranch to ensure the varietally correct citrine characters were suitably enhanced.

Production notes
The Albarino ferments are split several ways and carefully recombined just prior to bottling. Some components receive a neutral barrel ferment and sur lee’s aging while others receive stainless steel ferment and yet others a partial malolactic. All benefit from select yeast strains that emphasize the primary fruit aromatics making them literally leap from the glass.

Our Price Canyon vineyard is essentially as close to the ocean as any Californian Albarino Vineyard we know of ensuring super long hang times. Whereas Jack Ranch is the oldest Albarino planting just a little further inland on the western edge of the Edna Valley AVA.
