2022 Brecon Forty-Two (Red Rhone Blend)
When the sequel to a movie you adore finally comes out, it reaffirms why you love the original. The cast (vines) sure are a little older, smoother, and more complex. There are a few new characters and clever plot twists (new vineyards and varieties). But that overall feel of overlying tension and edgy spiciness that previously had you smitten are still much in evidence. Of course with this sequel you actually get to pick the exotic location, the romantic lighting, and how long it lasts yourself. Better purchase a few, you know you are going to repeatedly binge-watch them all (vertical tastings).
**Inspired by the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy trilogy of four books.

Production notes
Nobody ever reads the movie credits unless you are in the trade. The number of hard workers, barrels, varieties, tastings, and analyses that folks could take credit for in creating the final rendition would run a great many pages. We have really outdone ourselves this year with the rare reappearance of Grenache, a guest appearance of Tannat, and a whole new plot (The Ciento Vineyard). Of course, the buck still stops with the creative magic from our winemaking director’s lopsided noggin.

Calcareous subsoils forever. This is part of the Brecon story and translates to super food-friendly, brighter wines and impressive color depth. The majority of the components emanate from the flanks of the Templeton Gap (51.89%). While hilltops within the Adelaida sub-district contribute nearly all the rest. A true classic west-side Paso Robles blend.
